About the First Meal Ceremony Cuisine
The Okuizome ceremony has a long history and is believed to have originated from the "Mano-hajime" ritual practiced at the imperial court during the Heian period.
This tradition is rooted in the hope that the child will wean successfully (become independent) and grow up well, and in the wish that the child will never go hungry throughout their life. Today, it is customary to celebrate this milestone at restaurants or at home when the child is around three months old.
In keeping with traditional customs, our restaurant offers a set meal that includes whole sea bream, clam soup, red rice, and pickled plums.
Traditionally, the small stones used for the "teeth-hardening" ritual are picked up from the grounds of the local shrine, and the child’s name is written on them,
We will offer it to the local shrine we picked up after the first-meal ceremony.
For that reason, we do not carry small stones at our store.
